Some of Our Favorite Thank-Yous

thank-you note

Nothing shows gratitude quite like a thank you and nothing says thank you quite like a heartfelt hand drawn piece of art from an appreciative student. That is why we couldn’t help but smile when we received more than 50,000 hand drawn thank yous from students all across the Bay Area and state. Check out some of our favorites!

You can provide much-needed supplies to these students again in 2011. Please give 22!

Emery Unified Students Receive School Supplies

Emery Unified students with school supply kits

The Emery Ed Fund shared these pictures from the Fall 2010 distribution of school supply kits to 758 Emery Unified students. Thank you very much to the Emery Ed Fund for being such wonderful partners for the School Supply Initiative! Below is the text of the full post from the Emery Ed Fund:

The Emery Ed Fund understands the economic climate is difficult, particularly for our EUSD families. In light of this, we are pleased to announce an historic donation of 758 school supply kits, consisting of more than 35 important supplies for every student in the Emery Unified School District. Supplies are age-appropriate, organized by grade level. The supplies range from pencils to dental hygiene kits. We look forward to this donation assisting the families in our schools.

The total value of these supplies is $49,270! This generous donation was provided through K to College. K to College was founded in 2008 by a handful of UC Berkeley students and alumni. With the goal of equal access to higher education and support for low-income students, K to College’s founding members reached out to community leaders experienced with low-income education, including educators, school administrators, local & federal representatives, faith-based leaders, and other education-based nonprofit leaders. The need for school supplies was a major concern, and we are deeply grateful for their dedication to address it. We are excited to see this project completed after a year of planning. Next steps include working with school site principals to coordinate distribution.
