Mission Backpack Giveaway in San Francisco

Raw Hide with Kids

SAN FRANCISCO, California – San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee’s Office of Neighborhood Services (MONS) kicked off the school year with the 8th Annual Mission Backpack Giveaway at John O’Connell High School. K to College was part of a collaborative effort including sponsorships from Target, Kaiser Permanente, AT&T, Walgreens, Comcast, Costco, Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA), and Leapfrog that came together to distribute 2,500 backpacks to students in the Mission. Although ensuring all kids who attended were well equipped for the school year was the main focus, students and their families also enjoyed a BBQ, games, support from community organizations, a visit from the Mayor and fun with the San Francisco Bulls mascot, Rawhide.
